She built and executed strategy for the marketing and communications efforts of the national organization.
In 2015 and 2016, Beck served as a teaching assistant for Influencing Decisions, a graduate level course that provided insights into writing while developing the critical thinking necessary to fulfill writing and speaking projects in a business context. The class studied the style, technique and goals of public communications through writing, editing and constructive analysis of news, features and trend products.
Before joining Step Up and Columbia University staff, Beck spent two years teaching in the Teach for America Program. She taught first grade and founded a creative writing club for fifth graders to cultivate a culture of literary exploration. Beck has work experience from Weber Shandwick, Horizons, The Atlanta City Council, Fox News, and ABC News.
Beck is a Class Delegate of Woodward Academy and a member of New York Women in Communications. Her work has been published in The New York Times and Time Out New York. She received the Lorraine Hansberry Fellowship from Jack Jones Literary Arts in 2017. In her free time she can be found traveling, reading, or dreaming of her next story.
